Riding at Reekers is a local family-run Agistment facility where we consider your horses part of our family.
Kirsty & Sean were married in Nov 2019, not long after purchasing this property. This is a dream for them, and they hope they can start something special for the local horse owners.
Sean has been around farming, animals and working the land since he was young. He grew up on a sheep and beef farm and has control of the overall management and maintenance of the property. Sean is confident around horses and is learning from Kirsty as they go.
In her earlier years, Kirsty has started many young horses, trained many endurance horses for other owners and assisted in over seas sales. She has bought up her own young horses and sold them on. She has represented NZ overseas in Endurance, won and placed in many National titles, and has an absolute passion for what she does.
Kirsty is a qualified Veterinary Nurse, and spent most of her time in Equine medicine. She worked with some amazing vets and has the ability to provide wound care, bandage changes and first aid on site. She has an Advanced Certificate in Sport-horse Management Level 5, and spent a year at Telford growing her riding ability. While there she competed up to pre-training and was show jumping up to 1.15m.
Kirsty spent some time coaching at the Arion Riding Centre and started her coaching certificate, finishing her pony club coaching modules. Now she has this facility she hopes to finish what she started. She also hopes to start again with a young horse, bring it up to be the star she needs to re start her competing dream.
